Woman seeks legal aid after allegedly killing lover
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A woman who has been on the run since 2013 for the alleged stabbing death of her common-law husband recently requested legal assistance from the court.
Tashika Robinson told the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday that she is unable to afford a lawyer and is therefore seeking legal assistance.
Her request came after the prosecutor asked if she had an attorney.
Magistrate Simone Maddix ordered that Robinson be interviewed for legal aid assistance and a fingerprint order was also made.
Allegations are that on August 30, 2013, both the accused and the deceased were sitting in the St William Grant Park in downtown, Kingston, when a dispute developed.
Robinson reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed the deceased in his chest.
He was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
It is further alleged that the accused woman, had, on several occasions, told a friend that she was going to kill her common-law husband.
Robinson did not enter a plea last Wednesday. She will be brought back to court for a September 17 mention date.
