KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s sprint sensation Usain Bolt lines up in the 200m today at 7:55 am (Jamaica local time) for the second episode of the battle with American rival Justin Gatlin.
Gatlin could quite possibly be looking at a win in the event to prove that Bolt’s 100m victory on Sunday was a fluke. But, Bolt finished strong in the preliminary rounds and is poised to successfully defend his title.
The defending champion will be running out of lane six while Gatlin will line up in lane four.
Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade also lines up in the final and will be running out of lane eight.
Jamaica is also looking to claim at least one medal in the women’s 400m, set to start at 7:40 am, with four finalists in the line-up. Novlene Williams-Mills will run out of lane two, Shericka Jackson will line up in lane four, Christine Day will run out of lane eight, and Stephenie Ann McPherson will run out of lane nine.
American Allyson Felix, who ran 49.89 in the semi-final, will run out of lane six in the women’s 400m.
And, though it is just the semi-finals of the men’s 110-metre hurdles, it promises to be exciting when Hansle Parchment, Omar McLeod and Andrew Riley line up in the respective heats.
