$50 million worth of furniture procured for schools
THE Ministry of Education has procured 40,000 pieces of furniture valued at more than $50 million for infant, primary and secondary schools across the island.
Chief Education Officer in the ministry, Dr Grace McLean, said delivery of the furniture to schools commenced in the first week of July and should be completed by Monday.
She said that for the new school year emphasis is being placed on procuring child-appropriate furniture for the early childhood level.
Meanwhile, approximately 100 schools across the six education regions were identified for critical repairs, costing $47 million.
