Double disqualifications
Regally Bold with Wesley Henry winning, but was disqualified

Double disqualifications

FIVE HORSES CLAIMED ON SATURDAY

Five horses were claimed on the 10-race programme at Caymanas Park on Saturday. Force De Jour was claimed by Winston Morris for Arthur Foreman from Anthony Nunes for $450,000 and Gaga Lady was taken from Lorenzo Robinson by Steven Todd for Raphael Gordon for $450,000 from the first race. Legendary Pleasure was claimed by Fitzgerald Richards for Patrick Hall from Marlon Anderson for $250,000; Eternal Joy was claimed from Neive Graham by Denrick Chambers for Marcia Raymond for $250,000; and the Wayne DaCosta – trained Brave Prospect was claimed by Neive Graham for O’Shaun Connection also for $250,000 from the sixth race.

DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATIONS

The race day stewards disqualified two horses at Caymanas Park last Saturday. The Gary Subratie – trained and Aaron Chatrie – ridden Woman Is Boss, who won the seventh race, had their numbers taken down for causing interference to Asia’s Dream shortly after the start of the 1,000-metre event. In addition to the disqualification, Chatrie was further suspended for the remaining races by the stewards for what was officially stated as unruly behaviour. The race was awarded to Official Report. The stewards struck again in the very next race, disqualifying Regally Bold, the mount of Wesley Henry, for causing interference to second past the post Action Man at the 800-metre pole. Action Man was then declared the winner.

A RARE WINNER FOR COLIN BLAIR

Trainer Colin Blair found his way to the winner’s enclosure from his first start for the year last Saturday. Blair’s winner came when Wesley Henry guided Marisha Star to victory in the fourth race over a mile. Marisha Star was seven lengths in front of Express Truck and Peckaroni in a time of 1:45:0 minutes. Good to see you back, Mr Blair.

PHAROAH LOOKS GOOD AFTER LOSS

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – USA (AP) – They were waiting for their horse, ready to take pictures with cell-phones and ready to feed him snacks. On the morning after a startling upset at the Travers Stakes, a small gathering of fans visited racing’s biggest celebrity. This group on Sunday morning was considerably smaller than the throng of 15,000 that watched American Pharoah take a routine gallop two days earlier.

Still, the Triple Crown winner’s defeat at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday didn’t diminish his legacy or appeal – not in the eyes of the fans and not in the eyes of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, who led his prized colt out to be petted and fed carrots before he was sent back to his stall. “I’m happy with the way he looked today (Sunday). I could tell he’s not upset,” Baffert said. “You could see when he was out here, he was himself. He was his sweet self.”
