THE Wayne DaCosta conditioned bay colt Dreamliner is setting the tempo as the anticipated two-year-old season began to pick up pace with the running of the Terremoto Trophy at Caymanas Park last Saturday. Dreamliner (Porto Santo – Golden Olympio) became the first horse of this batch to win two races when he cruised home comfortably by six lengths in the 1,000- metre event.

From a level break, the Von White-owned Dreamliner battled for supremacy with Richard Azan’s Fedora (Shane Ellis) until coming into the straight when jockey Robert Halledeen asked the bay colt to take the lead. Dreamliner responded well and psulled ahead for an emphatic victory over stable companion Vision, the mount of Omar Walker.

Jamai Raja (Paul Francis) snatched third from his fading stablemate Fedora. The winning time of 1:01:3 minutes wasn’t all that impressive but the manner of victory was an encouraging one. “It was a very good performance.

He was asked to go from the start and he just did that and came home easily. He ran far better than he did on debut over this same distance, even though the final time was the same, he ran rugged for the first three furlongs and that showed that he has a bit of stamina and class,” DaCosta told the Complete Racing Guide.

DaCosta said he expects more from his charge as the two-year-old season progresses. “He is bred along sprinting lines but I am hoping to win at least two or more races this season,” he declared.

Halledeen said that he was mere a pilot aboard Dreamliner, who has won his two races for a combined 17 _ lengths. “He is a talented racehorse and I didn’t have much to do. He is improving and I expect him to go places…a really good horse,” he said.
