KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police attached to the Area One Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) and the Negril Operational Support Team (OST) seized 122 ¼ lbs of ganja in Nampriel district, Westmoreland on Thursday.

Four people were arrested in connection with the seizure.

In custody are: Sanya Guthrie, 26, of Nampriel Road, Negril in Westmoreland; Maxwayne Pringle, 47, of Sheffield District, Westmoreland; Euphemia Stevens, 58, Farmer of Sheffield Westmoreland; Dameon Woolcock, 33, labourer of Fairmount Sheffield Westmoreland.

Reports are that between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm, officers were on operations in the area, when they discovered a ganja field. A search of the area was subsequently conducted and the four people were discovered in a hut, near the field picking ganja. They were subsequently arrested and charged. The illicit drug has an estimated street value of J$600,000.00.

They are scheduled to appear before the in the Savannah-La-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on September 9.
