Mourinho to keep an eye on Hector
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Reggae Boyz defender Michael Hector says Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has promised to keep an eye on him during his loan spell at Reading FC.
The English Premier League champions signed Hector, 23, on a five-year contract worth £4m on Tuesday, but loaned him to Reading for the rest of the season.
“I met him [Mourinho] at the [Chelsea] training ground on Tuesday and only a few words he said… but it was good to meet someone like him. He just said he would be keeping an eye on me and he said just work hard,” Hector said at Wednesday’s Reggae Boyz training session at Stadium East field.
The central defender is a part of the Jamaica squad to face Nicaragua in a World Cup qualifier at the National Stadium on Friday.
Hector played for Jamaica at this summer’s Copa America and also at the Gold Cup where they lost 1-3 to Mexico in the final.
