“I feel as if I could touch heaven!”

So says Nadine Thompson in recounting her feelings upon learning she had been drawn as the lucky winner of a brand spanking new Nissan X-Trail in the Grace on the Move promotion.

The seven-month promotion came to a close recently with the final big grand Draw announcement at Consumer Meats in Montego Bay.

The promotion, which covered the 14 parishes of Jamaica, saw Grace Foods representatives visiting every parish to give away in-store prizes. To get in on the prizes, customers were required to mail in five Grace labels, complete with the slogan “bringing good taste to life”, along with their name, address and telephone number to ‘Grace on the Move’, 73 Harbour Street, Kingston. They could also have handed their entries in at one of the many drop-off points located islandwide.

There was added fun via the spin-the-wheel competitions and the fast-paced trolley races, as well as the Culinary Showdown, which pit the likes of dancehall star Kiprich against GK Foods General Manager Gilroy Graham and audience members. Up for grabs in the overall promotion was one of three Nissan motor vehicles from Fidelity Motors, each 50 per cent insured by GK General Insurance — Nissan Versa, Nissan Juke and, of course, the Nissan X-Trail. Shoppers also had the opportunity to win weekend getaways for four at Jewels Resort, 30″ gas stoves, microwaves, Samsung Galaxy tablets, gift baskets, and many other prizes. The endearing Pretty Boy Floyd, as emcee, kept the vibes and made sure that the fun “tun up!” as the team travelled from store to store.

But for Thompson, who operates her own shop among other micro-enterprises from her Kingston 11 home, the vehicle was what really mattered.

“I send in my labels, and I prayed, ’cause the car is what I really wanted,” she stated.

Like so many of the contest entrants, Thompson is a ‘dyed-in-the-wool’ long-time Grace consumer, raised on the Grace brand, who insists on using Grace at every opportunity in her household. Despite a very brief moment of doubt and suspicion, when the all-important call came, Thompson, with family and friends close by, screamed with delight.

Now, she says, she is better able to conduct her business and, perhaps, more importantly, she has a vehicle to get to church, which is some distance away. What’s more, there’s plenty of room in the Nissan X-Trail for her five children, ages ranging from 4 through 19, to accompany her.

She may not be physically touching heaven, but Grace on the Move grand prize winner Nadine Thompson will get her hands on the wheel of the car of her dreams. That’s a pretty close second.
