GRACEKENNEDY will meet Petrojam, and Peak Bottling Company take on Sagicor Group in the finals of 2015 Western Sports-sponsored Kingston & St Andrew Business House League Division One and Division Two Football competitions today at Barbican playing field, after they secured victories in their semi-finals last Saturday.

Former champions Petrojam clipped defending champions Metrodade Protection and Security 1-0 in a closely contested match at Winchester Park. Both teams had over 21 National Premier League players in their teams, but the game was decided by Petrojam Captain Jothan Watson as he pounced on a rebound after goalkeeper Shannon Bartley parried a shot from Rafiek Thomas and he walked the ball into the empty goal in the 83rd minute.

In the other Division One semi-final, former champions GraceKennedy proved that their opening match 2-0 victory over Scotiabank in June was no fluke, as they defeated them again by the same margin.

Scotiabank dominated the first half but found goalkeeper Edsel Scott in fine form as he denied Nicholas Scott twice from scoring. Scotiabank lost starting goalkeeper Obrian Duncan to an injury and he was replaced by Davin Watkins at half-time.

Watkins was beaten in the 53th minute as Karet Hosang headed a cross past him after being unmarked. GraceKennedy scored again as Ranike Anderson and Raymond Williamson both went to clear a cross and both players collided with each other and the ball fell to Micheal Spence who volleyed home in the 79th minute.

Coach Lenworth Hyde will be seeking his second trophy of the season and he will look to goalkeeper Damion Hyatt, as well as Cornelius Simms, Andrew Christie, Leon Strickland, Davis Stultz, Tyronne Davis and Jothan Watson to give Petrojam their fifth Division One title in six years.

GraceKennedy’s coach Patrick Haughton will rely on Robbie Scott, Nicko Christian, Diego Haughton, Michael and Oshane Spence and Akeem Coley and try to end the season undefeated.

Both teams played to a 1-1 draw in the preliminary round.

In the Division Two semi-finals, first-time entrant Peak Botting and National Commercial Bank (NCB) had a lot of goals as both teams ended 4-4 in full and extra time. Peak Bottling led 3-1 at half time but the Andrew Edwards-coached NCB rallied to tie the match in the 79th minute, and they got a penalty in the 88th to win the game, but Andre Messan missed the resulting spot kick. Andrew Morrison (15th), Troyland Williams (23rd), Leonard Page (44th) and Damariq Thompson (56th) were on target for Peak Bottling, while Andre Messan (45th), George Clarke (64th and 79th) and Sheldon Maragh (65th) scored for NCB. Peak Bottling won 3-2 in the dreaded penalty shoot-out.

In the other semi-final at Barbican playing field, another first-time entrant to the Business House football Sagicor Group clipped Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) 2-1 in the opening match. Oraine Sutherland gave ATL the lead in the 10th minute when he beat goalkeeper Kirk Shaw from close range, but Rohan Findlay levelled in the 21st minute.

Sutherland moved from hero to villain as he scored again but on his own team to give Sagicor the lead in the 32nd minute. ATL pressed for the equaliser but faulty shooting from Shamaine Lawrence, Curtis Taylor, Sutherland and Troy Ried, plus stout defending from Sean Blackwood, Paul Heslop, Andre Wilson and good goalkeeping from Kirk Shaw ensured that Sagicor were victorious.

Coach Emelo Clarke will look to Troyland Williams, Andre Wheeler, Maurice Ricketts, David Blake, Andrew Morrison, Leonard Page and Jermaine Savage for victory and to also finish the season undefeated.

Sagicor Group, who are coached by Glen Laing, will also have intentions to win their first Business House trophy. They will look to goalkeeper Kirk Shaw, Andre Powell, Prelue Samuels, Paul Cunningham, Rohan Findlay and Ajani Spence for victory. Both teams played to a 2-2 draw in the preliminary round.
