PRODEV opens business centre
PRO-COMM Developments Limited (PRODEV) has achieved its vision of opening Phoenix Central, its first professional business centre at 2 Phoenix Avenue in Kingston, close to the business district of New Kingston.
The state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar building was officially opened by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.
PRODEV is owned and operated by Jean Lowrie-Chin, Managing Director, Hubert Chin, Technical & Financial Director, Anita Chin, General Manager and Noel Chin, Property Manager.
“Initiatives such as these are fixing what is wrong with Jamaica by using what is right with Jamaica,” said Sir Patrick. He commended the Chin family for their commitment to nation building through their business investments including: advertising and public relations firm, PROCommunications Limited (PROComm) and PRODEV, and their major sponsorship of the Caribbean Community of Retired Persons (CCRP).
Phoenix Central, designed by Hugo Matthews of Plexus Limited, has a contemporary design with three storeys, parking and an accessible rooftop with amenities.
There was a total investment of J$280 million. “We were grateful that we were able to create employment for scores
of diligent construction workers,” said Lowrie-Chin.
Lowrie-Chin said that the vision for PRODEV started as far back as 1988, when through the assistance of her mother she was able to purchase the property.
A total of 11 of the 16 units have already been sold, five being retained by the company, Lowrie-Chin said. The largest will be the new home of PROComm, and the second largest will be the ‘Legacy Suite’ which will be available for conferences, lectures and receptions.
“I salute the foundation of PRODEV which is PROComm…They represent the very best that Jamaica has to offer. We are of various ages, of various ethnic backgrounds but we do not start a meeting without calling upon the Almighty for grace and guidance, and this is the grace that has kept us together and taken us to this place today,” Lowrie-Chin said.
PRODEV is planning to break ground in 2016 for a senior-friendly apartment building at 6 Kingsway, Kingston 10.
