Saturday Social: Mariachi for Mexico

The Latin American Women’s Club (LAWC), in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico, hosted a Morning with Mariachi-themed brunch party at the Serengeti restaurant, Hope Zoo, on Thursday. The fundraising event, which attracted patrons from Spain, Argentina, England, Ireland, and other countries were treated to a taste of Mexico with live performances from the Orgullo de Jalisco mariachi throughout the afternoon. Club members pitched in to create the scrumptious Mexican fare which was served along with refreshments from the Serengeti kitchen. President of the LAWC Maria Pinchi shared the reason for the festivities: “This is one of many out-of-the-box activities that our organisation will prepare in the line-up to our 50th anniversary with the objective to reach our financial goal, and to help the needy and less privileged children in Jamaica, by way of the charities we support, namely the St Patrick’s Foundation, St Monica’s Lepers Home, the SOS Children’s Village, the Stella Maris Foundation and a number of other charitable organisations.” Saturday Social was in the mix.
