Janet Sinclair to be buried next month
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Former newspaper advice columnist and show promoter, Janet Sinclair, will be buried on Saturday, October 17, following a church service at the St Matthew’s Church, Allman Town, Kingston.
This was confirmed yesterday by her family. Sinclair died Tuesday while on her way to Old Harbour. She was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.
A pioneer in providing advice on troubled relationships through her hugely popular newspaper column, “Advice to the Lovelorn”, which appeared in the Star during the 1970s, Sinclair turned to promoting events for women and girls in the late seventies.
Her first promotion, Miss Jamaica Grandmother, did not survive. But, her current promotions, Mini Miss Jamaica and Miss Teen Jamaica (formerly Miss Jamaica Teenager) have been running, annually, for more than 30 years.
Her family says that she has a history of suffering from high blood pressure which, apparently, took its toll on her while she was preparing to host a new event, Lunch Time Take Out, which had been scheduled for tomorrow at her home on Ricron Road, Kingston.
They said that the luncheon has been cancelled, and so too is this year’s staging of the annual Mini Miss Jamaica contest, which would have been held in another month’s time.
