Jody K takes Digicel Rising Stars title
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Biology teacher Jody Kay who has no immediate plans to become a recording artiste, was named the 2015 Digicel Rising star winner tonight.
In a hotly contested finale which brought back memories of the 2005 showdown between Christopher Martin and Noddy Virtue with Jody K prevailing in the end. Marsha K, a 26 year old from St Elizabeth finished in second place.
The final which was aired live by TVJ from the Courtleigh auditorium, saw performances from mostly Digicel Rising Stars alums including Romain Virgo, Martin, JL featuring Devin di Dakta, last year’s winner T Rizzy, Sara lee Moody, and Kenny Smith featuring dancehall artiste Darrio.
Other performers included singer Kelissa, and dancehall artiste Gaza Slim.
Jody K won a $1 million cash prize. Her other prizes include two songs produced by Christopher Birch and Don Corleon; a talent development contract with Ashe; a single produced by international producer and guest judge Jerry Wonda; and a publishing deal with BMI.
