KINGSTON, Jamaica — A deputy superintendent of police was this morning arrested by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

In custody is Jason Anderson, who is attached to the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).

Reports are that on December 18, 2013, Anderson allegedly discharged his firearm unlawfully and pointed it at one of the complainants before searching him and another civilian. The incident occurred on Caribbean Estates Boulevard.

Anderson was subsequently charged with discharge of a firearm within 40 yards of a public road, contrary to Section 23 of the Firearm Act, and assault at common law when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court today.

He was granted bail in the sum of $900,000 with one to three sureties.

The DSP was ordered to surrender his travel documents; a stop order has been placed on him at all ports of entry and exit; and he is to report to the Portmore Police Station between the hours of 6:00 am to 8:00 pm on Fridays.

He was also ordered to stay away from witnesses. The matter is set for mention on November 6, 2015.
