Health Ministry gets baby monitoring unit
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Health Dr Fenton Ferguson today announced the setting up of a special unit within his ministry, to monitor private and public facilities for newborn babies.
Dr Ferguson said that setting up the unit is in keeping with the United Nations’ “Every Newborn Action Plan: A Call to Action 2014”, which is a part of their Vision 2030 Agenda.
He said that the unit will be headed by neonatologist Dr Michelle-Ann Richards Dawson who will work along with Dr Jacquiline Bisasor McKenzie, Dr Simone Spence, the ministry’s epidemiologist Dr Karen Webster, and the chief nursing officer.
