PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Police said that the severed head of a man that was found in a rubbish dump earlier this week, belonged to a 35-year-old insurance company employee, whose body was found wrapped in an abandoned luxury vehicle on the outskirts of the capital.Read: Severed head found inside dumpster in T&T

The results of an autopsy showed that Nathan Maraj died from multiple stab and slash wounds to the neck. The autopsy also revealed Maraj’s head was removed from his body after his death.

Police had earlier said that the murder was probably a sign from the crime underworld but relatives said that Singh, the last child in a family of eight, was not involved in any illegal or criminal activities and was known to have a mental problem.

A sanitation work had on Wednesday found the head in a dumpster partially wrapped in a plastic bag.

A few hours later his body was found in the trunk of an abandoned BMW, which had been parked I on a street in the capital since Monday.

Head of the Port of Spain Division of the Police Service, Senior Supt Johnny Abraham said the police were following several “good” leads as they continue investigations into the gruesome murder.
