THE All Jamaica Senior and Masters Badminton Championships serves today at the Constant Spring Golf Club Racquets complex at 9:00 am.

Gareth Henry, Jamaica’s number one player, is the defending triple champion in the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles (with long-standing partner Garron Palmer) and Mixed Doubles (with sister Geordine Henry). To retain his title, Henry will have to see off challenges from the national junior champion Matthew Lee; number two seed and junior, Shane Wilson; past junior champion Samuel Ricketts; Che Beckford, number four seed; and past national champion, Bradley Graham.

In the women’s singles, number one seed Katherine Wynter is also prepared to defend her title with the main challenge expected to come from long-standing opponent, Ruth Williams, the number two seed.

The Masters’ Men’s Singles, in the absence of defending champion, Dave Thompson, has newcomer Albert Myles challenging 2014 runner-up James Cao for the title.

They both will face keen competition from the rest of the field, including David Thomas, president of the association, Warren Nelson, Christopher Edwards, and Past President Joseph Clarke.

The tournament, which will conclude with the finals tomorrow evening at 5:30 pm, will feature play in men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed events as well as past champions competing in the over 40 Masters Events.
