A news release published on the Office of the Prime Minister’s website, today, said that the decision came after Simpson Miller met with members of the Partnership for Jamaica National Council.
“The report will be published on the website of the Ministry of Health and made available to the media,” the release said.
The report was originally scheduled to be released next week.
The embattled minister came in for harsh criticism after it was revealed that 19 newborn babies had died, since June, following an outbreak of bacterial infection. It has since been revealed that the outbreak was documented in the audit report.Read: 19th baby dies
The nation heard that 42 infants were infected at two public hospitals by two bacteria — klebsiellia and serratia — which subsequently killed 19 of the infants.
There was a renewed call for the sacking of Ferguson over the outbreak of the health-care associated infections. However, in his defence, Ferguson said he acted as soon and as best as he could when he learnt of the deaths.
