Silver Cloud casts shadow at Caymanas Park
Silver Cloud, under a brilliant ride from title-chasing jockey Robert Halledeen, came with an electrifying run on the inside rails in deep stretch to land the Ronron Trophy at Caymanas Park yesterday.
Trained by Wayne DaCosta, Silver Cloud got a good break and quickly assumed a striking position in third place behind Royal Assault (Linton Steadman up) and Road Wi Seh (O’Brien White astride) approaching the home bend.
Turning for home on the inside, Silver Cloud responded well to the bustling ride from Halledeen to come with a strong run to beat Royal Assault by two-and-a-half lengths in the Restricted Stakes event over 1,200 metres.
Dreamcometrue, under Paul Francis, came from far behind to finish third ahead of Pizarro (Odeen Edwards aboard) in the 12-horse field.
Owned by Elizabeth DaCosta, Silver Cloud covered the distance in a career best 1:12:0 minutes.
“The plan was to get a clean break and stay close to the leader and make my move leaving the two furlongs, and that is what I did and it worked out,” Halledeen said in the winners’ enclosure.
It was the second winner for Halledeen, as he had earlier won aboard Winesha for trainer Marlon Anderson in the seventh race.
Earlier on the nine-race programme, the Fitzroy Glispie-trained Stunner made all convincingly to win the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup for native-bred two-year-olds over 1,400 metres.
Ridden by Paul Francis, Stunner won ahead of Golden Glory and Vision Of Gold in 1:27:0 minutes.
Racing continues next Saturday with the running of the Burger King Superstakes.
