ST ANN, Jamaica – Member of Parliament for South East St Ann Lisa Hanna has called on party supporters to be careful about their utterances, because “words have power”.

Hanna, who was addressing a People’s National Party (PNP) meeting in Brown’s Town, St Ann, on Sunday, said: “I have many times been to a breaking point.”

However, she insisted that she intends to remain strong.

She called on Comrades to “find courage in adversity… find courage to love your enemy”.

The MP was recently engaged in a rigorous battle with sitting councillor for the Bensonton Division, Lydia Richards, who sought to become the party’s representative in South East St Ann. However, Hanna defeated her at the polls and was returned as the standard-bearer by delegates.

The member of Parliament encouraged party supporters who may be at a breaking point, to “let it go”.

In the meantime, Hanna, who is also the chairman for PNP’s Region One, said the party will be looking to take North East St Ann and South Trelawny in the next general election. Hanna said that since the last general election, Region One was able to get back two important seats.

“We coming for North East (St Ann) and we coming for South Trelawny,” she said.
