Vardy steals headlines

Euro roundup

Man City returns to BPL summitNorwich 1 – Arsenal 1

Kevin De Bruyne regained his early season form to propel Manchester City to a 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday. The Belgian playmaker scored the opener and created a couple against a lacklustre Southampton unit, whose goal came from the busy Shane Long.

The game of the weekend featured this season’s surprise package Leicester City up against Manchester United. The game offered less than what was expected and ended 1-1. However, Leicester’s Jamie Vardy grabbed headlines after breaking former Red Devil Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record to score in his 11th straight league game.

Spurs 0 – Chelsea

Bournemouth 3 – Everton 3

Front trio lead Barca to winAtletico Madrid 1 – Espanyol 0

Barcelona continued their red-hot form after thumping Real Sociedad 4-0 at Camp Nou. It was beautiful football as usual, which peaked when Luis Suarez lashed home a sublime volley from a pin point Dani Alves cross. Neymar notched a neat double while Lionel Messi closed the game with a goal in his return to the starting eleven.

Real Madrid bounced back from last week’s humiliating result with an efficient 2-0 win over Eibar. Cristiano Ronaldo, playing as a striker, was back amongst the goals and received help from Gareth Bale who also found the net.

Getafe 2 – Villarreal 0

Sevilla 1 – Valencia 0

Old Lady surges into fifth placeAC Milan 4 – Sampdoria 1

Four-time Scudetto champions Juventus defeated Palermo 3-0 in Sicily to continue their resurgence up the Serie A table. There was nothing on offer in the first half but Mario Mandzukic took his opportunity to put the Bianconeri ahead on 54 minutes. Late goals from Stefano Sturaro and Simone Zaza put the icing on the cake.

Last season’s runner-up AS Roma continued their poor form this week when they lost 2-0 against Atalanta today. Alejandro Gomez and a German Denis penalty heaped more pressure on Roma boss Rudi Garcia.

Empoli 1 – Lazio 0

Chievo Verona 2 – Udinese 3

Bayern maintains 8-point leadAugsburg 0 – Wolfsburg 0

A wasteful Bayern Munich won easily in their 2-0 victory over the visiting Hertha Berlin. The opener came from a typical Thomas Muller goal, heading home from two yards away. The second was through brilliant build-up play, Robert Lewandowski’s first time lobbed pass finding on-loan forward Kingsley Coman, who volleyed home.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stretched his incredible Bundesliga goal tally to 17 goals after Borussia Dortmund’s 4-1 win over Vfb Stuttgart. Gonzalo Castro gifted Dortmund the early lead before Aubameyang doubled the score on 19 minutes. It was all over by then; Aubameyang added another to supplement a Stuttgart own goal.

Hoffenheim 3 – Borussia M’gladbach 3

Bayer Leverkusen 1 – Schalke 1
