Radlien readies for Universe
WITH the Miss Universe coronation set for Las Vegas, Nevada, later this month, Jamaica’s Sharlene Radlein says she is ready to take home the crown.
She spoke to the Jamaica Observer at her wardrobe showcase and bon voyage party at Triple Century Sports Bar in New Kingston on Sunday.
“I am fully prepared and ready to take the crown. I’m going to do my very best when I get there. Since I was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica in August, I have been doing speech and walking classes, as well as taking wardrobe and makeup lessons,” she said.
As part of her preparation, the 24-year-old has networked with other contestants.
“So far, I have been talking to Miss Aruba and Miss Philippines who have reached out to me. I am bringing everything to Las Vegas to represent my country well,” she said.
Radlein, who was recently named National Road Safety Council brand ambassador, has also given advice on the importance of road safely.
“I was involved in a traffic accident when I was 17 so I can relate to the situation. I have been doing talks with children about road safety and I am so elated to be in this position right now,” she said.
During the wardrobe showcase, Radlein modeled designs from House of Neahlis, Fashion 911 and Uzuri International. The pieces are part of her wardrobe for the December 20 finals at AXIS, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
“The outfits are depicting who I am. They are a little bit sexy but not overly sexy. There are some black pieces, very sophisticated pieces, just a little bit of everything.”
Eighty-one countries will be represented in the pageant. The current Miss Universe is Paulina Vega of Colombia.
