FLOW’s Christmas winner grabs $1.2 million

THE first set of words from 35-year-old Dwayne Haughton were “ham can eat this Christmas”, after he finished grabbing from the vault Wednesday as the first winner in Flow’s ‘Merry Up’ Christmas promotion.

Haughton, who works as a store clerk in Montego Bay, was selected as the first ‘Cash Grab’ grand prize winner in the promotion being hosted by the telecommunications firm.

After being given 45 seconds in a cash-filled vault, Haughton secured a whopping $1,250,500 worth of $100 bills using only his hands for carriage.

“This is the first time mi eva win anything. When mi get di call I wasn’t having a good time. I was at home and mi neva believe because mi know how dem something guh,” said Haughton. He confessed to calling the Flow corporate switchboard several times to verify that he had won.

A family man, he also admitted that he had been facing hard times financially before getting the lucky call from Flow.

“A straight education dis a spend pon,” he added. Haughton says he intends to ensure his nine-year-old daughter has her school expenses paid, as well as tiling his home which he has been struggling to complete for some time.

“I really want to thank Flow and the team of persons who accommodated me at the thing (cash grab), especially Miss Karen (Phillips) and Miss Kristi (Wilson) from Flow who really gave me the motivation to come all the way from Montego Bay and to do my best. Haughton reportedly maintained a calm demeanour as he secured his winnings from the Flow money chamber, making four trips into the area during the assignment to secure as much as he could.

Carlo Redwood, Flow’s head of marketing and products, said the Merry Up promotion is the company’s way of giving back to its customers and helping to make the Christmas season even a little brighter for its winners.

“Dwayne is precisely the type of customer we want to reward. He has consistently topped up his mobile phone throughout the year and so we are happy to be able to extend our gratitude in this way,” Redwood said.

Over the next four weeks more than 20 more Flow customers will win a combination of 48-inch Samsung Curve televisions, $25,000 cash prizes, tablets and phones from the company. Before December 25 another lucky grand prize winner will be selected for another “Cash Grab”.

The Flow Merry Up Christmas promotion is open to all residential Flow customers (landline, broadband, mobile, mobile internet and cable television).

“My advice to persons is to believe in God and live a good life and things will happen,” said Haughton, who intends to spend the Christmas season with his family and friends.
