Scorpions struggle at 63-4 vs Jaguars
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Scorpions were left in a rut at 63-4 trailing the Guyana Jaguars by 126 at the end of day one in their fifth-round WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day match at Sabina Park on Friday.
A six-wicket haul by the ever-reliable left-arm finger spinner Nikita Miller was the only spark of the first day and paved the way for an intriguing clash over the next three days as the Jaguars were restricted to a below-par total of 189.
Miller ended with figures of 6-46 form 26 overs including six maidens with Assad Fudadin (47) and Vishal Singh (45) the only meaningful scores in the Jaguars’ innings.
The dismal display of batting from the Scorpions continued as Devon Thomas (30) the only batsman to make a meaningful contribution so far.
Andre McCarthy, unbeaten on eight, will be joined by Tamar Lambert to resume the Scorpion’s innings with play scheduled to start 10:00 am Saturday.
Left-arm orthodox spinner Veersammy Permaul has so far taken 2-1, while Raymond Reifer has 1-18 and Christopher Barnwell 1-10.
