Health care worker shot dead in home invasion
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A psychiatric nursing aide was last night shot dead when gunmen broke into his Spanish Town, St Catherine, home. One of his relatives was also injured in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Ray Charles Brown of a Clayton Crescent, Willowdene address, who was attached to the Community Mental Health Unit of the St Catherine Health Services in the South East Regional Health Authority.
Reports from the police are that Brown and a relative were at home when gunmen broke into their house about 12:10 am and robbed them of cash and jewellery.
A struggle reportedly ensued between Brown and the hoodlums and he was shot. His relative received a stab wound to the face.
Both were taken to hospital where Brown was pronounced dead and his relative treated and released.
The police are investigating.
