Queen Ifrica honours JCapri with song Caribbean Whine
Today would have been the 24th birthday of late dancehall singjay JCapri.Caribbean Whine in J Capri’s honour, and she spoke to teenAGE about it.Lioness on the Rise, Daddy, Keep It to Yourself and Far Away, Queen Ifrica knows this song will come as a shock to some of her fans.
While there has been an outpouring of birthday wishes on social media from fans and past co-workers, at least one other musician is planning to pay tribute to her using their art form.
Queen Ifrica plans on releasing a song entitled
“I’m jumping out the box. This song is bigging up all the girls from Spice to Lady Saw to Allison Hinds to Destra – all the girls in the Caibbean that ‘whine’, I’m bigging them up,” an excited Ifrica said. “The song is saying that all the men want the Caribbean whine, and everybody wants to ‘whine’ like the Caribbean girls.”
Known for hits such as
“This is going to be something different, because Queen Ifrica is known as a cultural artiste. But when you listen to the song, you will understand where I am coming from.”
Ifrica plans to release the song very early in the New Year.
“We are working on the flyers and CDs right now. We want to drop the video for it at the same time, so as soon as Rebel Salute is done, then we will be shooting it the video and releasing them.”
Queen Ifrica has done a lot of touring throughout 2015. She visited Canada, some Caribbean Islands and several countries in Europe.
After a brief stop in St. Croix next week, she is hoping to return to the studio to put the finishing touches on her upcoming album, which will be released by March of next year.
