Confessed drug mule wants out of jail

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A woman who was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport with more than two pounds of cocaine strapped to her body is to know her fate tomorrow.

Kerry-Ann Sinclair pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking steps to export cocaine when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today. She was also charged for conspiracy, but Sinclair pleaded not guilty to that offence.

The court heard that on December 18, Sinclair attempted to board a flight to Atlanta when a search revealed that two pounds, seven ounces of cocaine was strapped to her body.

When she appeared in court, her attorney told the court that they are not interested in challenging the charges laid against her.

However, he said that he was seeking bail for his client to make long-term preparation for her children.

Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece told the court that Sinclair should have made her plans prior to strapping the drugs to her body.

Sinclair was subsequently remanded and a December 29, date set for her attorney to make a bail application.
