Back to Africa for Yung Jr
A new generation of reggae performers continues to find an audience in Africa, as evidenced by the Bongo Reggae Festival which was held December 23 in Dar Es-Salaam, Tanzania.
The event attracted 2,500 fans and had singers Yung Jr and Keznamdi as headliners. A number of local acts also performed.
For Yung Jr, whose debut album Start The Movement was released in December, the trip was like a homecoming.
“I lived and went school in Ghana for one year, but it was my first time in the East. This trip will be an unforgettable one for I,” he said.
Africa is a vibrant market for contemporary dancehall/reggae acts. I-Octane, Busy Signal and Konshens are some of the artistes who performed there in 2015.
