Clarks Town made progress to the quarter-finals of the Trelawny Football Association’s Knockout with contrasting wins against Division One teams on Thursday.

Village United beat Granville FC 2-0 at Bounty Hall, but Clarks Town needed penalty kicks to eliminate Invaders SC after being held 1-1 through regulation and extra time at Unity Sports Grounds.

Three more qualifiers will be decided today when the first round continues.

The third Division One team in the competition, Rio Bueno FC, will take on Holland United at Elleston Wakeland Centre. Harmony FC will face Fire FC at Bounty Hall and Spicy Hill SC host Kinloss FC at Georgia Sports Grounds, all games starting at 3:00 pm.

On Thursday, Charles Grant scored in the 30th minute and Nicholas Falconer got the second in the 69th as Village United safely negotiated Granville FC 2-0.

Clarks Town, who lead their zone in the Super League, had things much more difficult as they gave up an early lead and had to rely on penalty kicks to advance.

Dwayne Brown gave them the lead after just seven minutes, but Jerome Scarlett equalised in the 27th minute for the only scoring in 110 minutes of play.

In the shoot-out Brown, Cleon Brown and Kemar Vincent were successful for Clarks Town while only Michalee Green and Michael Holt scored for Invaders.
