Salt Marsh United visit Bunkers Hill So Fresh today
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Defending champions Salt Marsh United will travel to Unity Grounds today to face Bunkers Hill So Fresh in the final game of the first round of the Trelawny Football Association Knock-Out, set to start at 3:00 pm.
Salt Marsh are the third Western Confederation Super League team in the competition and are expected to advance despite a slump in their performance in the Super League.
They are winless over the last three games after winning their first three, but should have enough quality to take on the Major League team.
Five teams qualified over the weekend, joining Super League teams Clarks Town and Village United who both won on Thursday.
Carlington Johnson’s 38th-minute goal gave Harmony FC a 1-0 win over Fire FC on Saturday.
Jamar Scott’s 88th-minute goal gave Baca Star United a 1-0 win over Duanvale FC.
Kinloss also eliminated Spicy Hill 1-0 with Eric Campbell scoring in the 58th minute, but it took penalties to separate Holland United and Rio Bueno FC, with the former winning 5-4 after they ended 1-1 at regulation and extra time.
Garfield Stewart had given Rio Bueno the lead in the 34th minute, but Kemar Newman levelled for Holland United in the 73rd minute.
In the shootout, Tino Benjamin, Newman, Dean-Lloyd Reid and Ronique Haynes scored for Holland, while Kemar Hylton and Kevardo Grant were successful for Rio Bueno.
The game between Daniel Town and Coopers Pen also went to penalty kicks after they ended 2-2 before Daniel Town won 5-4 in sudden-death penalties.
Kemar Harris gave Daniel Town the lead after 36 minutes, but Kevon Noble equalised a minute later before Christopher Noble gave them the lead in the 76th minute.
Ronaldo Harris scored in the 85th minute for Daniel Town to force extra time where none of the teams managed to score.
In the shootout, Zico Lewis, Kemar Harris, Malkie Scott and Leon Roberts scored for Daniel Town while Kevon Noble, Tevin Fisher, Ashonie McDonald and Shane Palmer scored for Coopers Pen.
Odane Frank scored for Daniel Town in sudden death, while Cecil Noble missed.
