Hinduja Global Solutions adds to health portfolio, expands in Kingston
Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) has added to its healthcare portfolio and is set to expand in Kingston. The company commissioned a new facility in the island’s capital in January.
HGS, which employed 125 workers at its 12-14 Worthington Terrace location, had said in 2014 that it would add 200 seats based on growth seen in healthcare.
Sources at Jampro said Friday “Hinduja has gone ahead with their expansion,” noting that the second facility is now currently operational in Kingston.
Jampro, the island’s trade promotion agency, said that HGS secured a contract from global health services firm to deliver business process outsourcing-related services from Jamaica and, in order to accommodate this new project, secured the new delivery centre for the contract.
Jampro did not wish to name the company, but said it is a global health services firm that is widely known in the insurance space as providers of medical, dental, disability, life and accident insurance and related products and services.
HGS Jamaica says on its website that it specialises in customer care, technical/product support, inbound sales, billing, order taking, analytics and market research, back-office processing plus social media management.
HGS began its operations in Bangalore India as Hinduja TMT (HTMT) in 2000. In 2003, HTMT entered the Philippines through the acquisition of C-Cubed Solutions, one of the first Manila-based call centres. This was followed by the acquisition of Source One Communications in New Jersey which marked HGS’ first foray into the US market.
In 2006, HTMT restructured its business and spun off its Business Process Management Division into a new entity called Hinduja Global Solutions.
In 2006, the website indicates, it expanded its US presence through the acquisition of Illinois-based Affina. This was followed by its entry into the UK in 2010 and Canada in 2011.
In 2012, Hinduja Global Solutions brought all its operating units together under the common brand name HGS.
Since then, its website states, it has also set up operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, Jamaica, and the United Arab Emirates. The company says it employs 40,000 in 65 worldwide locations which deliver localised solutions.
Locally, the company provides customer service for the Jamaica Public Service Company.
