MONTEGO BAY, St James — Promoted Reggae Youths could retake the lead in Zone 1 of the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League on Saturday when they host Sandals Whitehouse at the UDC field in Montego Bay, starting at 3:00pm.

Reggae Youths, the only unbeaten team left in the competition after six rounds of matches, just missed taking a share of the lead on Tuesday after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Beaches Negril at Llandilo Community Centre in Westmoreland.

Clark’s Town lead with 12 points, two more than the St James team, while three clubs — Sandals Whitehouse, Beaches Negril and Wadadah FC — are all on eight points. Village United are on two points.

Granville FC are the leaders in Zone 1 with 13 points followed by Montego Bay Boys Club and Petersfield FC, 12 points each, Salt Marsh United 10 points, followed by Lucea FC on four points and defending champions Savannah SC, one point.

Reggae Youths and Sandals Whitehouse had played out a 2-2 draw in their first meeting and the home team will face a tougher opposition today, as Sandals Whitehouse have added fire power including Akeem Shackleford, who scored the competition’s first hat-trick on Tuesday, in a 3-0 blanking of Village United.

Santino Grinnion and Oshane Russell have both scored three goals each for Reggae Youths, who will be without Oshane Thompson, who was sent off late in the game on Tuesday.

Three more games will be played Sunday – Wadadah FC host Beaches Negril at the UDC field, Clark’s Town go to Elleston Wakeland to face Village United, while Salt Marsh seek to end a three-game winless run when they tackle Lucea FC at Davis Pen.
