Waterhouse open defence of Jackie Bell KO with narrow win
Waterhouse FC began the defence of their Locker Room Sports/KSAFA Jackie Bell KO with a 2-1 win against Maverley/Hughenden at the Maverley playfield on Tuesday.
It was not an easy win for the Cup holders as after they opened the scoring with an Andre Leslie goal in the 45th minute and Sakeem Anglin responded in minute 62 for Maverley, and then it became an uphill struggle for Waterhouse who finally shook off the pesky Maverley/Hughenden Charley’s JB Rum/KSAFA Super League Zone A leaders in the final minute of time added from the penalty spot after Weston Forrest converted.
In other games played on Tuesday, Barbican FC defeated UWI FC 1-0 on a Mario McDonald goal, while Boys’ Town beat Maxfield Park 4-2.
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s games Steve Clarke scored twice in the 42nd and 62nd minutes to lead Arnett Gardens to a 6-1 swamping of Coorevile Gardens at Duhaney Park. Other goalscorers were Jahmeel Thompson in the eighth, Lemmard Neal in the 16th, Leonard Russell in the 58th and Gary McIntosh on the hour mark.
In other games August Town FC hammered Bull Bay FC 3-1 at the Mona Bowl; Olympic Gardens FC fell victims to Real Mona FC 1-2 at Cling Cling Oval, while Rockfort FC suffered a similar fate to Cavalier SC 0-3 at Rockfort. Harbour View FC were to entertain Tivoli Gardens FC at the Harbour View Mini Stadium in a late kick-off at 7:00 pm.
