Wadadah look to avenge loss against Beaches Negril
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Wadadah FC will seek to avenge their biggest loss of the season when they take on Beaches Negril in a Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League second-round game at the UDC field, starting at 3:00 pm.
Beaches Negril had hammered Wadadah FC 5-1 in their first-round game played at Llandilo, but both teams are tied on eight points in Zone Two, behind leaders Clarks Town on 12 points and Reggae Youths on 10 points.
Two more games are down for today: Clarks Town go to Elleston Wakeland Centre to face Village United in a Trelawny derby, while Salt Marsh United, seeking to snap a three-game winless run, will host Lucea FC at Davis Pen.
Despite coming off a loss to Clarks Town, Wadadah FC will start favourites against Beaches at home as coach Daniel Ricketts will hope his new acquisitions would have gelled into a until as they restart their quest for yet another title.
Beaches Negril, who are ahead of the St James team on goal difference, have not won on their last two outings and will be desperate today to complete the season double over Wadadah FC.
Clarks Town, the Trelawny FA Major League champions last season, are one of the surprises of the Super League so far, but have lost both games away from the Cedric Titus High School grounds and this will give Village United hopes of getting their first win of the season.
Clarks Town were also upset in the Trelawny FA Knockout last week, and this will also give Village hope of extending their miseries.
Salt Marsh are winless over their last three games, picking up just a single point and have not scored at all.
Today they will attempt to reignite their hopes of making it to the semi-finals against Lucea FC who are coming off their first win of the season.
