Wadadah face Village today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Wadadah FC could take over the lead in Zone Two of the Jamaica Football Federation Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League today when they take on Village United in a second-round game at the UDC field in Montego Bay, starting at 3:00 pm.
Wadadah FC, who are coming off a 3-1 win over Beaches Negril on Sunday, are on 11 points and in third place, two points behind leaders Clarks Town, would go top for the first time since the opening round if they can beat Village United.
As they have done the last three seasons, Village United are struggling in the Super League but have always saved their best for the St James team, earning a 1-1 draw in the first round and have beaten them on at least one occasion the last two years.
Village have not won all season, one of two teams yet to taste victory, but have drawn three games.
Interestingly, both teams have combined to allow 23 goals, Wadadah FC leading the zone with 12 and Village right behind them with 11.
Wadadah conceded three in their last two games but with an improved team could get the edge today.
Montego Bay Boys Club were to host Granville United today but that game has been shifted to Sunday at UDC with another three games being played — Salt Marsh hosting Savannah SC at Davis Pen, Lucea FC facing Petersfield at the Collin Miller Sports Complex, and Clarks Town hosting Reggae Youths at Cedric Titus High.
