A Decade of Page 2
Moët & Chandon Champagne flutes are raised for the launch of the 10th anniversary of <InfoBold>Page 2</InfoBold>.

A Decade of Page 2

Page 2 turns 10 on April 10, and we’re counting down in the most stylish way possible. Commencing celebrations for the beloved feature’s first decade was a sumptuous Champagne brunch hosted by the Jamaica Observer’s Managing Director Danville Walker and Novia McDonald-Whyte, the creator and creative force behind Page 2. The chic affair took place in the executive boardroom of the newspaper’s Beechwood Avenue home and included a bevy of advertisers, corporate leaders, 10th anniversary sponsors — notably J Wray & Nephew, LASCO, and Supreme Ventures — and Page 2 faves.

The event proceeded with an easy elegance as Walker addressed the gathering. “Welcome, everyone. It’s really great to see everybody here to celebrate the

Observer in general, and Page 2 in particular,” Walker began. “…When you look around the table you see what Page 2 is really about because this is where all the beautiful people gather.” NMW spoke on the history of Page 2 and its decade of charting a social narrative not just in Jamaica but also in the Caribbean that has chronicled how we live, celebrate life, honour our heroes, dress and, yes, party. The floor was then opened to the attendees who took full advantage of the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their own Page 2 moments and a few thoughts on what it means to them.

Contemporary observation of the 10th anniversary usually entails diamonds and jewellery, but stylish pairs of crystal-encrusted peep-toe pumps, labels enough to stock a New York City boutique, and the gorgeous Page 2 Moment designed by Selena Wong would just have to do. Culinary luminary Celeste Gordon, executive chef and owner of Whip it Up, provided an enticing menu accompanied by Moët & Chandon courtesy of J Wray & Nephew. The elegant décor featuring bouquets of white hydrangeas and orchids in a custom centrepiece (remember those crystal peep-toes?), a vision curated by Ann Marie Wyss, elevated from elegant to near ethereal.
