CFU Club Championship Group 3 schedule pushed back

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Montego Bay United have pushed back the dates of the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) Club Championships first-round Group 3 qualifying tournament by two weeks following the announcement of the General Election earlier this month.

The three-team tournament will now be held March 9-13 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex and not the February 24-28 that was first announced, the Jamaica Observer was informed.

The Election will be held on February 25 and the management of Montego Bay United decided to push the dates back by two weeks.

Montego Bay United, who were third in the CFU Club Championships last season, qualifying for the CONCACAF Club Championships, will host defending champions Central FC of Trinidad and Scholars International from the Cayman Islands.

Only the winners of the groups will advance to the finals to be held in April where the top three will advance to the CONCACAF event.

Montego Bay United will play Scholars on March 9 in the opening game; Scholars and Central FC will meet on March 11, while Montego Bay United and Central will meet on the 13th where it is expected the winners will be decided.
