Dear Editor,

I am having serious difficulty seeing the progress and prosperity that the two major political parties are touting for the general election. Crime, unemployment, the national debt, and the trade imbalance associated with importation are still unacceptably high here in Jamaica. Therefore the progress that the ruling political party is thumping seems like arrogance to me. In addition they have defiantly ignored the call from the public for them to participate in the election debates by using their “disagreement” with the opposing team as an excuse.

On the other hand, the opposing political party that is hoping to be the bright hope for tomorrow is promising a lighter burden with regard to education, health care, and income tax. But can we afford to bypass cost sharing when our national budget for the past few years has been so laden with debt/credit? It is late, but I am still hoping for practical and reasonable solutions to our national concerns.
