American Grade II winner Bern Identity has been retired to stand for the PJK Team in Jamaica in a deal brokered by Chad Schumer Bloodstock and Bradley Thoroughbreds Brokerage.

A winner of Saratoga’s Sanford Stakes (gr. II) in his third career start, Bern Identity was also third behind champion Shanghai Bobby in the 2012 Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) at two.

He was also a multiple stakes-winning sprinter at three who won the 5 1/2-furlong My Frenchman Stakes, Tale of the Cat Stakes (six furlongs), and Dave’s Friend Stakes (six furlongs), all in succession.

Bernstein is the sire of 90 stakes winners and Bern Identity is out of a grade III-winning, grade I-placed mare. He is half-brother to Battle of Evermore, who placed in the New York Derby and Agresivo, the champion imported two-year-old colt and champion imported sprinter in Turkey in 2011.

A spokesperson for the PJK Team said the purchase of Bern Identity to stand in Jamaica represents a major investment on their part.

“We are indeed happy with this development as we believe that Bern Identity will add a major new dimension to our local bloodstock, and the hope is for him to develop and grow here while producing outstanding offspring,” the PJK Team spokesperson said.

Bern Identity is expected to arrive in Jamaica some time in April after fulfilling quarantine obligations.
