SOMERTON, St James — Somerton FC and Salt Spring United extended their leads in their respective zones in the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Division One competition following high-scoring wins over Bogue FC and Paradise FC, respectively, on Thursday.

Two players scored doubles for Somerton FC in their 5-2 win over Bogue FC at Somerton and Lavardo Whyte also scored two goals for Salt Spring United in their 4-3 win over Paradise FC at the UDC field.

Somerton FC rebounded from their draw against Seaview FC last week to beat Bogue FC for a second time this season — the only team to beat Bogue FC — and improve to 22 points from eight games, nine points more than second-placed Seaview FC.

Gavin Brown scored in the 18th and 50th minutes and Dwayne Anderson scored in the 46th and 49th minutes after Marvin Ellis had given them the lead in the 15th minute.

Neil Stephens and Jermaine McDonald had scored for Bogue FC, who slipped to third below Seaview on goal difference.

At the UDC field, Lavardo Whyte scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season for Salt Spring as they held off Paradise FC with two late goals.

Paradise FC came from a goal down to lead 2-1 but could not hold on.

Whyte gave Salt Spring the lead in the sixth minute, but Malaki Stainrod equalised in the ninth minute, and Evrado Chambers who also scored twice, gave Paradise the lead in the 19th minute.

Kemar Sterling scored in his second- straight game for Salt Spring United to pull them level at 2-2 in the 66th minute, but a minute later Chambers restored Paradise FC’s lead at 3-2,

Whyte brought Salt Spring back level at 3-3 in the 73rd minute before Andre Allen scored the winner for Salt Spring United in the 75th minute.
