HANOVER, Jamaica — The police have reported that a Canadian visitor remains in hospital for observation following a motor vehicle crash in Hanover, which claimed the life of a police constable on Sunday.

Dead is 20-year-old Daemoy Witter, who was assigned to the Negril Police Station in Westmoreland. 

Reports from the Green Island Police are that about 3:30 pm Witter was driving a Honda Civic motorcar when on reaching a section of the Orange Bay main road in Green Island he allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which collided into a Toyota Coaster transporting tourists. 

A Toyota Altis, which was being driven by another police officer also crashed into the Honda Civic. Witter was pronounced dead at hospital while the injured officer and another tourist were treated for minor injuries and released. 

This is the second fatal accident in the parish within a day.

Early Saturday morning, 41-year-old Jason Hudson of Sugar Mill Road in St James died as a result of injuries he received in a motor vehicle crash on the Mosquito Cove main road in Hanover.

Reports are that at about 6:00 am, Hudson was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla motor car travelling westerly towards Lucea.

Upon reaching a section of the roadway currently under repairs, it is alleged that the driver lost control of the motor vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned.
