Three centurions in opening round of Senior Cup
Stylish Jamaica batsman Brandon King led the way as there were three centurions in the opening round of the Jamaica Cricket Association’s Senior Cup on the weekend.
King followed up a first-innings half- century with a dominant second-innings 179 for Kingston against Manchester at Sabina Park. But the home side had to be satisfied with a draw as the visitors’ last pair survived Kingston’s pressure on Sunday afternoon.
Nineteen-year-old Cornwall College student Leonardo Frigenette, who caught the eye while representing Jamaica at the 2015 Under-19 tournament, hit a first-innings 120 for St James. But a second innings batting implosion meant St James lost to St Ann by five wickets as off-spinner Kemar Allen picked up 10 wickets in the match.
St Mary’s 27-year-old Robert Weir hit an unbeaten 153 as St Mary disposed of Boys’ Town by an innings and 65 runs at Three Hills, St Mary.
