Boys’ and Girls’ Champs 2016: KC’s Hamilton wins class two long jump
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Yashawn Hamilton of Kingston College leaped to a distance of 7.01 metres to win the boys’ class two long jump at the 106th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championship now under way at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Hamilton, who opened with a leap of 6.42m, exploited his 100m and 200m speed to extend the winning distance on his second attempt in a negative 0.6 metres per second wind speed.
Joel Morgan (6.95m) of Excelsior and Kristoffe Clifford (6.87m) of Calabar took the sliver and bronze medals, respectively.
With the win, KC move into pole position with 12 points ahead of reigning champions Calabar, who are on 10, followed by Jamaica College and Excelsior High, both on seven points each.
Cornwall College, who have one point, complete the top five.
