Students steal laptop from classroom
Two students of the HEART Trust/NTA who conspired to steal a fellow student’s laptop computer, are to know their fate in court on May 2.
Alexander Brown, 21, otherwise called ‘Corporal’ of Portmore, and 18-year-old Eric Williams otherwise called ‘Extra’ of Spanish Town, both in St Catherine, pleaded guilty to simple larceny before RM Pusey in court on Thursday.
A social enquiry report was requested by the magistrate and the duo’s bails were extended for them to return to court for their sentencing.
The court heard that on March 15 about 12:30 pm, the complainant was in a classroom at the institution when he left his laptop, valued at $40,000 in a knapsack on a chair and went to buy lunch.
Brown was also sitting inside the classroom when the complainant left, the court also heard.
However, when the complainant returned, he discovered that his laptop was missing and Brown was nowhere in sight.
