Mavado for NY music festival
NEW YORK — Dancehall singjay Mavado is one the headliners booked to perform at Oracabessa Festival on May 20 at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York.
Louie Grant, executive VP of Irie Jam Media — event organisers — has high expectations of the singjay.
“[He’s] an entertaining performer who has a knack for rising to the top when the spotlight is on him. Mavado is excited about performing at Oracabessa this year, and fans eager to see him showcase his musical dexterity,” he said.
Mavado, whose given name is David Brooks, is known for hits including Star Boy, Stulla, and Mad Over.
Other artistes booked for the gig are Ken Boothe, the Mighty Sparrow, Nesbeth, and Vershon.
