Wayne DaCosta, trainer of Post To Post 2,000 Guineas winner Future King, is informing that his charge’s next race is still to be decided.

Speaking to the

Complete Racing Guide on Sunday morning, the day afterFuture King won the Classic event, DaCosta said that while there are not many options available, he is yet to speak with owners Jeffrey Mordecai and Alfred Lee for a final decision to be taken.

“We are looking at all the races available for

Future King, and truth be told, there are not many before us at the moment,” DaCosta said.

The champion trainer quickly added that the Governor’s Cup, a three-year-old handicap race over 10 furlongs set to be run in May, is not likely to be one of the options.

“The Governor’s Cup is a handicap race, and if we nominate

Future King in that one he is going to allow large chunks of weight to his rivals. That said, I am not ruling out participation in the Governor’s Cup. There is still time and we are analysing all before us to make the right decision,” he said.

DaCosta indicated that

Future King came out of the Guineas without any major problems, but is being monitored very closely.

“We were on tenterhooks before the running of the Guineas because

Future King had developed a hoof problem. So far, based on what I have seen, he came out of the race well and we are doing everything we can to ensure thatFuture King stays healthy. He will be monitored very closely,” the champion trainer said.

Future King’s Guineas victory DaCosta said: “It is a nice feeling winning the 2,000 Guineas.Future King had a little setback when he suffered an injury which caused him to miss some crucial training, but his class proved too good for rivals. He came down nicely in the race and when Halledeen asked him to go up the lane, he just went on his way.”
