McLeod sets world leading 13.08 seconds in 110m hurdles

PHILADELPHIA, USA — Jamaica’s Omar McLeod continued his outstanding start to the outdoor season running a season’s best and world leading 13.08 seconds (-0.1m/s) to win the 110m hurdles at the Drake Relays in Iowa, yesterday.

For McLeod, the IAAF World Indoors 60m champion last month in Portland, Oregon, it was an easy win, beating World Champion David Oliver (13.31 seconds) and compatriot Hansel Parchment (13.42 seconds) while Commonwealth champion Andrew Riley was eighth in 13.77 seconds.

The previous world leading time was 13.33 second set by American Jason Richardson set April 22.

McLeod ran 9.99 seconds to win a 100m in Arkansas last weekend, becoming the first man in history to run sub 10.00 seconds in the 100m and sub 13.00 seconds for the 110m hurdles.
