92-y-o mowed down by motorcyclist dies

KINGSTON, Jamaica — An elderly woman died as a result of injuries she received in a motor vehicle collision on Mount Pleasant main road in Hanover on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified by the police as 92-year-old Lorraine Whitecox of Green Island, in the parish.

Reports from the Green Island police are that about 11:15 am, Whitecox was allegedly crossing the roadway when she was hit by a motorcycle. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The motorcyclist, Renardo Hudson of Fish River road, Hanover, received minor injuries and has since been charged. He is expected to appear in the Green Island Resident Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
