Ninja gives Magnum contestants nod
NINJA Man had high marks for last Saturday’s staging of Magnum Kings and Queens Competition held at the D’Entrance on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew.
The veteran deejay was a guest judge on the weekly televised contest.
“Ah the best Magnum show dis. Accid did have the wickedest lyrics inna the show. Ah the best artiste dem this weh me ever see pon Magnum, me nuh care what nobody say. This is the show!” said Ninja Man.
In addition to Accid, he was impressed with Zigma and Shemdon, and Princesses Clymax, Mi Ya Estro, and Mystery P.
“It’s not my first time being a guest judge on Magnum [Kings and Queens]. Seeing what Magnum is producing right now… The team has sat down and really fine-tune and pick a proper set of artistes; and these artistes are some artistes that deliver, dem have good lyrics, dem know how to perform… dem remind me of the 80s artistes because me get to laugh, me get fi enjoy good lyrics. Me need some of the artiste dem weh a record right now fi take a page outa dem young people book. Yuh nuh haffi go the slack way and the nasty way and the careless way. Lyrics deh weh you can talk weh people can laugh,” Ninja Man continued.
He expressed a desire to record Clymax.
“Clymaxx ah di biggest star deh pon yah. Before me see Clymaxx, me wonder when Lady Saw resign what would happen to dancehall. But having a Clymaxx in dancehall, we have another Lady Saw, only thing is she only nuh haffi go X-rated and raw but she bad like that. Me ready fi voice Clymaxx now. Now!” says the lyricist, producer and writer.
He said Mystery P reminded him of Queen Ifrica.
Last Saturday also saw the elimination of Skillarchy and Mizza Bling. The competition continues next week. The final is scheduled for June 4 in downtown Kingston.
