Asafa clocks 9.94s for second, Gatlin wins 100m at Prefontaine Classic
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s former 100m world record holder Asafa Powell finished second in the men’s 100m at the Prefontaine Classic meeting in Eugene, Oregon, in a time of 9.94 seconds.
The dominant American Justin Gatlin with the assistance of +2.6 tailwind, ran away from the field in a wind-aided 9.88 seconds.
Americans Tyson Gay and Mike Rodgers were third and fourth with 9.98 and 9.99 seconds, respectively.
